Yields: 9 servings

Ingredients
π2 pints of strawberries, sliced
π1 1/4 cups sugar
π3 cups flour
π4 1/2 tsp baking powder
π1 1/2 tsp salt
π3 tbsp sugar
π1/2 cup shortening
π1 1/8 cups milk
πMargarine or butter, softened
πWhipped cream
Create
- Mix sliced strawberries and sugar together well; let sit for one hour. Preheat oven to 450 F.
- Mix flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar. Cut in shortening; mixture should resemble crumbs. Then stir milk in, until blended. Itβs best to pour a little at a time into the center of your bowl, folding batter into the center with a fork, to create the dough.
- Cover your surface with flour (to roll dough on.) Cover hands and rolling pin with flour. Roll your dough into a ball, knead 20/25 times.
- Roll dough out (1/2 inch thick). Use 3-inch circle cutter to cut dough.
- Place biscuits 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake until golden brown (10-12 minutes). Cut biscuits in half while hot; spread with butter. Top with strawberries and whipped cream. Provides 9 servings.
